Philippe Vouters and Thierry USO have ported JRuby 1.5.3 to OpenVMS.
JRuby is a Java implementation of the Ruby programming language, which means that the Ruby programs run atop the JVM.
This is an improved version which has a better overall performance and corrects a lot of bugs. Moreover, Philippe Vouters has ported jffi which allows calling native libraries (system services, RTL, libc...) directly in ruby.
JRuby for OpenVMS needs Java 1.6 or later. It must be installed on an ODS5 volume. JRuby has been tested on Itanium.
