eCube Adds 3GLs to Eclipse for NXTware Remote
Posted by Peter Marquez on Thursday June 11 2009 @ 11:44AM EDT
Today, eCube Systems announced the availability of new language support for NXTware Remote, its Eclipse-based integrated development environment (IDE) for remote systems development. Enterprise IT organizations doing strategic development in COBOL, FORTRAN, C, BASIC, and PASCAL can now leverage the Eclipse IDE from Windows or LINUX to develop and debug code remotely on HP OpenVMS servers.

With enhanced language support, NXTware Remote opens the door to greater efficiency and productivity. Now, developers can be more productive programming in the languages they know, be it Java or older 3GLs like COBOL or FORTRAN. The capabilities of NXTware Remote make it simple for developers to visually transfer, compile and debug code on OpenVMS from a local workstation.

eCube Systems will be in Booth 747 at the HP Technology Forum and Expo June 15 - 18 in Las Vegas to meet with the OpenVMS community and demonstrate the cross-language capabilities of NXTware Remote. The NXTware Remote product is comprised of NXTware Remote Server and NXTware Remote Studio. These components work together to make it easier for organizations to standardize on Eclipse while enabling developers of all kinds to be more productive across the traditional boundaries of platform, language or specialized training.

    Included in NXTware Remote 3.3:

    • NXTware Remote HP OpenVMS language packs for COBOL, FORTRAN, C, BASIC, and PASCAL
    • General support for HP OpenVMS DCL, SQL, MSG, CLD, HLP, MAR and OPT files
    • Robust REST, SOAP and HTTP interface generation, without coding
    • Ability to create composite applications based on legacy and new business logic
    • NXTware Remote Studio, the Eclipse plug-in, is certified for Windows, Linux and MAC OS X
    • Remote Perl development for Linux as so supported in this release
